Jernigan Genealogy - Granville B. Jernigan

Granville B. Jernigan - Son of Martin Jernigan and Ann Groves, Granville B. Jernigan was born in 1825 and married Keziah Ann Stone in 1848. Granville B. and Keziah had six children; Sarah Elizabeth, William Nicholas, J. Martin, Mary Ann, Frances S. and Robert Jernigan. Granville B. Jernigan served as a Private in the 30th Regiment, Illinois Infantry of the Civil War, fighting for the Union. Granville became a prisoner of war at the infamous Camp Sumter near Andersonville, Georgia and died in the POW hospital on 24 August 1864. Granville is buried there in grave number 6733.

J. Martin Jernigan - Apparently named after his grandfather Martin Jernigan, J. Martin Jernigan was the son of Granville B. Jernigan and Kezziah Anne Stone. J. Martin Jernigan was born in May of 1855 and married Mattie Aldridge around 1877.
